I went out walking on a rainy, autumn day
I hoped that I would turn the corner and see your face
Like I did yesterday, like I did yesterday
You walked right up to me wearing a mustache and a cane
Carrying a hot pink yoga mat, I asked your name
Oh David Donahue
You're bound to make me blue someday
You came around, out of nowhere I found you
The strangest person that I think I might've ever met and
You waltzed in as quick as you left
And I was only relieved
You end every story with, "And then they took me to
Bellevue." In a way I gotta say it made me trust you
I will try not to romanticize
Your sickness, I bonded over a diagnosis
I get the ups and downs and all the bouts of psychosis
I thought that your weed might be PCP
Oh David Donahue
There's not room for two of us like this
You came around, out of nowhere I found you
The strangest person that I think I might've ever met and
You waltzed in as quick as you left
And I was only relieved
Yow!
You pissed me off and now you're only a song
You pissed me off and now you're only a song
You pissed me off and now you're only a song
You pissed me off and now you're only a song
Oh David Donahue
I remember you like it was yesterday

Ouija Board Story
02:40
|
|||
Stewart was a teenager whose mother didn't let her watch TV
So she took up to playing with the Ouija Board
She got so bored one day, so she went to her boyfriend named
Brett Boudreaux's house to play
With the Ouija so they sneaked up to the attic
To conjure up some spirits
They lit a couple candles and they lightly held their hands over the plastic dial, then they waited for a while
Nothing happened
Nothing moved, they were confused
They'd communicated with the afterlife before
So they ran down the stairs to go get some answers
They asked Brett Boudreaux's mom, "What's going on?
Why is the Ouija stuck?" She said they had no luck because
A priest had come to cleanse the house
Before they moved in, cause the man who lived there right before them
Had died! In a tragedy where he ended his own life
We're standing in the room where he committed suicide
Well one day, she and I were racing down the highway
In my bright blue mini cooper with the top down
Clowning around on a bright, sunny day
Driving with nowhere to be
And then we turned onto a random street
We slowed down as we drove past a house atop the steepest hill
I'd ever seen before, big kitchen windows and a green door
It's been so long since I stood at the bottom of those steps
It took my breath away
I turned to Stewart to say,
"That's the house of my father who passed away,"
She replied, "No way!"
And that's when we found out
That Brett Boudreaux's house is my dead dad's house

Man On The Water
03:38
|
|||
I met a man on the water
He had skis for feet
His ribcage was made out of gills and
At night he slept at sea
I asked him if I
Could stay by his side
But he politely declined
He said his ground is the water, and
My ground is the sky
I found a spot up high in a tree where
I could rest my wings
The next thing I know
I look up and he's floating
On the dock, talking to me
He told me I shine like the stars in the sky
He's never seen nothin' quite like me
I said, "Well likewise, I can't believe my eyes,
Most handsome thing I've ever seen"
Man on the water
I met a man on the water
The man on the water
I watched him swim and I'd fly over him
While he splashed and did his flips
But then one day he noticed my long face
And said, "You gotta keep goin',
There's so much more sky for you to see with your own eyes
And there's so much more sea for me,
I gotta dive, and you gotta fly
But this goodbye sure ain't easy."
Man on the water
I met a man on the water
The man on the water
I asked him if I
Could stay by his side
But he politely declined
He said his ground is the water and
My ground is the sky

Karate Chop
03:01
|
|||
Mr. Miyagi, can you help me?
I've been beaten down again
Behind the dumpsters in a dark alley
I crossed paths with the opposite of a friend
A gaggle of shadows hiding behind some moppy headed boys
Dressed up in skeleton suits, they tossed me around like I was a toy
I don't ever want that to happen to me again
I want to become a someone that I want to defend
Oh, I want you as much as
I want the whole world to karate chop
Me in the face while I'm singing the same old tunes
I'm tired of being the fool
Mr. Miyagi, everyone's asking
Where I procured this purple eye
I lied and said I fell off of my bike
In realty, they beat the shit out of me
It was so embarrassing, but I found a way
To hide behind a smile
They drove away in convertible cars
Without a bit of remorse
Now I pray for the day that I'm one with the force and
They wish that it never happened before
Oh, I want you as much as
I want the whole world to karate chop
Me in the face while I'm singing the same old tunes
I'm tired of being the fool
I'll wax and I'll wane 'til the rain comes
I'll stay at your house and paint your entire fence
I'll stand on a boat and I'll balance and ask,
"What's the point of all of this?"
Oh, I want you as much as
I want the whole world to karate chop
Me in the face while I'm singing the same old tunes
I'm tired of being the fool

Johnny Appleseed
02:16
|

Oh Johnny Appleseed
I want to plant you in the ground and
Watch you grow into a tree
Your fists made out of honeycrisp
Your hair consists of leaves
I'll be your biggest fan
The only one who understands you
Can you handle me?
I adore more than anyone or anything
You're the only one I'll wait around for
I watched you breathing
This morning when I woke up and
You were still asleep
Lying by your windowsill and
Longing for your dreams
You taste so bittersweet
I hate to see you go
But I love to watch you leave
I remember you
When you were just a little sapling
Growing straight out of my core
You're the only one I'll wait around for
Time goes by
And I watch you grow
Now I'm sitting underneath
Your shadow
Oh Johnny Appleseed
(Oh Johnny)
Your fruits will fall in Autumn
'Til your branches turn to bone
I swear to you I will stay true
You'll never be alone
You're the only one I'll wait around for
